When you think about alcohols, you might think, oh no. Why are you afraid to use them? There is no reason to ban them out of
your stash. However, there are good alcohols and bad ones. In fact, the good alcohols actually bring moisture to the hair. These fatty alcohols work as a thickener and a emollient, which blends the water and oil parts into one creamy mixture.
Good alcohols
Cetyl alcohol
Cetearyl alcohol
Stearyl alcohol
These good alcohols are moisturizing and a
re derived from vegetable oil, coconut oil, palm oil. Let’s drink to that.
Bad alcohols
Isopropyl alcohol
Propanol alcohol
Ethanol alcohol
Isopropanol alcohol
Benzyl alcohol
The reason why these alcohols are not good for your hair is because they make the water evaporate quickly, which dries out your hair. Imaging disinfecting your hands with rubbing alcohol, your hands are dry within seconds. Isopropyl alcohol is basically rubbing alcohol, and I’m pretty sure you wouldn’t put rubbing alcohol on your hair. Don’t!
Sulfates are not your friend either. Naanu never uses sulfates. Don’t mistaken our key ingredient behentrimonium methosulfate aka BTMS as a sulfate. It is NOT a sulfate. It is a conditioning agent and a detangler. This important ingredient brings moisture to your hair.
